Utopia of Hopes
This body of work offers temporary utopia as a reflection to the fragments from the artist’s personal diaries and desolate yet resilient memos of Generation Z that she collected. The photographs echo both the despair and resistance of a generation navigating a late-stage capitalistic individualistic world.
The series reflects on the sense of disconnection that emerges amidst the promise of constant connection and the nearly-magic realism offers a temporary dream that is necessary to survive mentally. The visuals blend hopes, fears, and questions, searching for light in an era of the climate crisis, socio-political turmoil, the threat of war, and the weight of individualism. “Utopia of Hopes” does not offer answers but instead creates space for reflection. It questions the future of a generation raised in a world on the edge of doom. It reminds us that amid darkness, the search for light and meaning can become the only way to survive.
Hope: Maybe tomorrow? Maybe in another lifetime.
